About the University

Harokopio University of Athens was founded in 1990 on a bequest of the National Benefactor Panagis Harokopos.

The University consists of Departments and Curricula unique within its fields in Greece, as well as, state of the art infrastructure and a high level of research activity both domestically and internationally, establishing an academic environment of exceptional quality for its students.

Concurrently, special care is taken, to ensure graduate career prospects and a multifaceted connection to society.

About Campus

The main campus of Harokopio University is located in 70 Eleftheriou Venizelou Avenue in the municipality of Kalithea. The building complex is, approximately, twenty acres of tree – lined urban real estate. Within the complex exist:

The main building of the University, which was renovated and restored in 1993 – 1994, houses a multitude of classrooms, laboratories, HUA’s main auditorium and its administrative services. The building was constructed in 1915 – 1920 and in 1959 a new wing was added. This building also housed the old “Harokopios Higher Education School” from 1929 until 1990 when it ceased operations.

The new building of the University, which was built in the beginning of the millennium. This modern building houses the Library and Informational Centre, the ceremony hall, fully equipped laboratories, classrooms and faculty offices, mainly of the Department of Geography.

Additionally, in order to meet the increasing needs of the University there is one more building, located a short distance from the main premises, in 89 Harokopou Street and houses laboratories, classrooms and faculty offices.

Finally, in 2011, a new building was erected in the Tavros area, for the newly established Department of Informatics and Telematics and the University’s Refectory.
